This paper examines the impact of controllership and performance indicators on the decision-making process of small and medium-sized enterprises. There is a need to have good financial control in SMEs. There are five key themes which are discussed in the literature review. It was done by a qualitative approach interviewing five professionals. The results indicate that controllership and indicators are favourable to better decisions, however, many SMEs apply them in straightforward and informal means. The paper concludes that the leadership, training, and data trust are key areas that are needed to enhance decision-making.
